Hi! I’m building the world’s tallest crocheted teddy bear made from recycled materials — about 1,000 old t-shirts! My goal is a World Record, but it’s bigger than that. This giant bear will raise awareness about the hidden cost of fast fashion, showing how waste can be transformed into something epic. You can help by grabbing merch, donating the shirt off your back (literally), sharing useful connections (see What I Need the Most below), or even lending your crochet skills! Together, we’ll create a record-breaking, recycled teddy that inspires, educates, and proves that big dreams — and small t-shirts — can make a huge impact.

Description here
I've never applied for a Guinness World Record before - have you? Whether you have or not, let's figure it out together! I'm in the process of applying now, and if you - or someone you know - might be interested in helping me navigate this part of the journey, I'd be incredibly grateful for the mentorship!
Any shirts I can't get donated, I'll have to purchase - so if you know anyone with a bunch of extra t-shirts that would otherwise be donated or tossed, I'll gladly take them! Central Texas (or anywhere in Texas) is preferred, but mail-ins are welcome too.
Each panel takes about an hour to crochet, so with ~1,000 panels to make, I’ll take all the help I can get!
I'm still working out how to stuff the bear without adding too much weight. If anyone has connections to companies that work with packaged air, packing peanuts, bubble wrap, or other lightweight filling materials, I’d love an introduction. I'm definitely open to creative solutions!
Once the bear is built, I’ll need a place for it to live - at least temporarily! I’m looking for libraries, museums, galleries, or other spaces that might be interested in showcasing my record-breaking mega sculpture. Do you know anyone?
Do you have special skills or expertise to offer? Or an idea that could help take their project to the next level?
That’s what the Connect Me! form is for. Send them a message through the form, and we’ll take care of the rest - they’ll follow up with you directly.
You can help me get closer to my Crazy Big Dream - aaaand score some cool merch at the same time. Win-win!
Here’s how your support turns into real progress toward my Dream:
1 Supporter Shirt Purchase = 3 secondhand T-shirts = 3 Crocheted 16"x16" Panels
Additional Notes:
My pattern will require approximately 1,000 Panels to complete, which means if I sell 333 Supporter Shirts, I'll have the materials to complete the crocheted portion of my Towering Teddy Bear Sculpture (not including Stuffing).
